FACIAL TREATMENTS
EXACT BENEFITS OF REGULAR FACIALS
Whether you are a facial fanatic or are considering booking a first-time treatment, there are countless benefits worth noting when it comes to facials.
Are you ready to witness the remarkable transformation of your skin? Regular facials are the secret weapon that can unlock a new level of radiance and rejuvenation. At Australind Beauty Works, we understand the importance of a fresh and luminous complexion, and we’re here to guide you through the incredible benefits that regular facials can bring.
You’ll discover a world where beauty meets expertise when you enter our salon. Our skilled beauty therapists are masters at customising facial treatments to suit your unique skin needs. Whether you’re dealing with acne, dryness, or signs of aging, our facials are tailored to address your specific concerns, leaving you with a revitalised and radiant appearance.
Regular facials go beyond just a surface-level makeover. They delve deep into the layers of your skin, providing a comprehensive cleanse and exfoliation. Our skin is exposed to environmental pollutants, dirt, and oil buildup throughout the day, which can clog pores and hinder its natural glow. But with regular facials, we can restore your skin’s clarity by unclogging those pesky pores, removing impurities, and unveiling the true beauty beneath.
But the magic doesn’t stop there. Our facial treatments stimulate blood circulation, a critical factor in achieving healthy and youthful-looking skin. Our beauty therapists enhance blood flow to your facial tissues through gentle massage techniques, ensuring a rich supply of oxygen and nutrients to nourish your skin cells. This revitalising boost helps promote collagen production, the protein responsible for maintaining firmness and elasticity, resulting in a complexion that exudes radiance and resilience.
Beyond the physical benefits, regular facials at Australind Beauty Works offer a sanctuary for relaxation and stress relief. We understand that true beauty radiates from within, and our salon provides a serene environment where you can unwind, rejuvenate, and escape the daily hustle and bustle. Our expert beauty therapists are dedicated to addressing your skin concerns and ensuring you leave our salon feeling refreshed and renewed, ready to face the world confidently.
At Australind Beauty Works, we offer customised facials to help tackle whatever your skin concerns may be. We use a variety of skincare products, massaging techniques, and equipment throughout your treatment to help you leave fresh-faced and glowing from within. Some of the skincare concerns we can work to combat during a facial include:
One of the most common skin concerns I hear about is discoloration: dark spots and hyperpigmentation. A regular facial, with the right products, can help even out your complexion, reducing the appearance of dark spots and packing your skin full of much-needed nutrients and hydration. The rejuvenation and exfoliation provided to your skin during a facial will increase cell turnover, bringing new life to your skin. Remember: the phrase “regular” facial is important to keep in mind. While results are not immediate, the monthly dedication will help you achieve your goals!
Many people struggle with acne! While a facial won’t cure your acne in a single session, the consistent monthly treatments can help minimise the appearance of acne and soothe the skin, reducing breakouts over time. Acne is typically caused by clogged pores, stress, diet, etc. When done month over month, you’ll start to really see these benefits in your complexion.
Reducing the appearance of acne and irritation is one thing, but minimizing the appearance of stubborn acne scars can be something else entirely. Luckily, a facial can help you tackle both of these concerns. The deep skin exfoliation that you will receive during a facial will help increase cell turnover, removing old skin cells and reducing the appearance of scars. The skin texture will appear smoother, and your skin will be more receptive to absorbing other beneficial skincare products post-exfoliation! Ask for my at-home skincare recommendations to combat scarring!
It’s impossible to completely avoid the signs of aging {& if you’ve figured out the secret - let me know}, but there are some skincare practices we can implement to slow down the process. Facials stimulate collagen growth in the skin, which helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Regular facials will improve your collagen over time, providing noticeable anti-aging effects to your face.
Life can get pretty busy in between all the different responsibilities you may be juggling every day. In between all that you have going on, you cannot forget the importance of YOU time. A facial is a one-hour break where you can focus solely on, well… nothing! This is good not only for your mental health but for your skin! Intentional time dedicated to rest helps promote more vibrant, healthier skin. Plus, a moment to yourself will help you glow from within.
Regular facials will give your skin a much-needed boost. The exfoliation will reach deep within your skin to increase cell turnover, while facial massage techniques will boost your collagen growth - giving your skin an opportunity to bring new cells to the surface. This will leave your complexion looking fresh after each facial. Facial treatments also give your skin an opportunity to be steeped in top-of-the-line skincare products.
A one-hour facial provides you with time to rest and relax your mind and body, but it also provides you with an opportunity to reduce your stress and anxiety. There are hundreds of different pressure points in your face, all of which can be massaged during a facial - helping to alleviate any stress and anxiety you might be feeling. You’ll leave feeling rejuvenated and relaxed, ready to tackle whatever is next on your schedule!

MICRODERMABRASION
WHAT IS MICRODERMABRASION?
Microdermabrasion is a process that deeply exfoliates, polishes, and increases the lymphatic drainage of skin. It uses a gentle vacuum to bring your skin in contact with a central abrasive pad that gently abrades the top layer of dead skin. It can be used to help treat various skin conditions such as acne, comedones (blackheads), and dull or rough skin. It is most commonly used on the face, but can be used on the chest, back, and hands.
A non-invasiveskin treatment, using an abrasive pad surrounded by vacuum, that buffs away the outermost layer of the skin to create a smoother and younger appearance. It allows all exfoliated cells to leave the skin revealing a fresh and improved skin texture. Perfect treatment for mild scarring, pigmentation, sun damage, congestion and fine lines.
Microdermabrasion is a gentle exfoliation process. There are very few risks to microdermabrasion and all risks will be discussed during your consutlation and assessment. After treatment you may experience some transient redness of the treated areas.
Generally, a session of microdermabrasion of the face takes approximately 60 minutes. It is not painful and it may feel like you are having a facial.
Prior to microdermabrasion, your face is thoroughly cleansed. The microdermabrasion head is then systematically passed over the face multiple times. Particular creams or serums are put on your face after the procedure has been completed. After microdermabrasion, your skin may appear red and this usually persists for a short time only and you will notice that your skin feels soft and smooth afterwards.
We recommend 6 sessions at fortnightly to monthly intervals to achieve the best results. Ultimately, the number and frequency of microdermabrasion will depend on the skin type of the patient was well as their needs.
DERMAFRAC
An innovative 4in1 treatment that includes
microdermabrasion, skin needling with serum infusion, and LED light treatment. This treatment will transform your skin. A series of 6 treatments are recommended for best results.
DermaFrac is a dermal micro-needling (skin needling) machine that offers simultaneous delivery of infused ingredients. As the highly potent solutions penetrate the skin, it makes the treatment a quick, pain-free and effective treatment with no downtime.
DermaFrac treatment is effective and safe for many skin types and can improve skin conditions like:
- Acne scarring
- Skin dehydration
- Superficial wrinkles and fine lines
- Uneven skin tone, sun damaged skin and pigmentation
- The DermaFrac machine takes micro-needling to a whole new level.
By combining precisely calibrated needle penetration and unprecedented infusion capability, DermaFrac creates micro channels to the dermal junction while simultaneously infusing topical serums to this all-important tissue layer. The DermaFrac system uses a unique combination of technologies to enable an improved micro-needling procedure along with immediate infusion of a powerful active serum.
The precision-controlled DermaFrac hand piece pulls the skin under vacuum into contact with hundreds of micro-needles that painlessly penetrate through the epidermis and into the upper dermis (the papillary layer). The vacuum permits an all-important even penetration to the full depth of the needle and can be adjusted to make the treatment deeper.
DermaFrac micro-needles create pathways for introducing the infusion serum into the skin.
Dermafrac skin exfoliation process reveals the new, living skin cells that are soft, smooth & receptive to nutrients. This procedure will also stimulate new collagen and elastin production thus improving fine lines and texture.
The depth of needles on the DermaFrac hand piece has been carefully selected so that the channels are created just below the dermal-epidermal junction and just above capillaries and nerve endings. This ensures no bleeding or pain.
DermaFrac treatment is ideal for many skin types and skin concerns. Dermafrac is best done every 4-6 weeks for a series of 4 treatments based on the condition and concern of the skin. Dermafrac is also a great treatment to do 1-2 weeks prior to any major event to freshen up and rejuvenate the skin. Every clients’ skin goals are different, therefore results may vary.
DermaFrac improves the appearance of:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Ageing skin
- UV damage
- Sun damage and pigmentation
- Enlarged pores
- Skin’s strength
- Oily congested skin
- Poor skin density
- Dull, tired looking skin
- Dry and dehydrated skin
- Acne scarring
The DermaFrac treatment includes:
Double Cleanse and Microdermabrasion
To cleanse the skin and prepare it for the next step. This is followed by a mild microdermabrasion.
Fruit Enzyme Mask
A fruit enzyme mask is performed to ensure the skin is free and clean of any debris.
DermaFrac Treatment
This is tailored to suit the individual’s skin. Either 0.25mm for a light and refreshing serum infusion or 0.5mm for a more intensive treatment. The serum infusion is selected after a discussion with your Skin Therapist about your skin concerns and aesthetic goals.
There are four different serums available for DermaFrac treatments:
Clarify
The Clarify solution features two key active ingredients: Salicylic acid and Lactic acid. Salicylic acid opens clogged pores and neutralises bacteria within the pores. It reduces pore congestion and breakouts on skin. Lactic acid, is part of the Alpha Hydroxy Acid family, and exfoliates the outer layer of skin and increases collagen production to minimise fine lines and wrinkles, and reduces blackheads and whiteheads. The Clarify solution is ideal for acne, acne scarring and problematic skin types. It helps to visibly reduce acne, improve the appearance of pores, reduce redness and reduce acne scars. Check out this guide for more information on how to combat acne scarring.
Hydrate
The Hydrate solution uses Hyaluronic acid with a patented technology called HylaSponge to form a fully hydrated layer that helps guarantee that hydration is delivered into deeper layers of skin. It also delivers intense hydration to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The Hydrate solution is ideal for dry or dehydrated skin types, and results in immediate skin firmness. For more information, read more on the benefits of Hyaluronic acid.
Rejuvenate
The Rejuvenate solution has five active ingredients that stimulate fibroblast and collagen production in the skin. They also help relax muscles to prevent wrinkling from repeated muscle movement. The Rejuvenate solution is ideal for sun damaged skin, general ageing concerns, wrinkles and fine lines. It also helps visibly reduce the appearance of dark eye bags, reduce pigmentation and improves skin tone. For more information, check out our guide on treating pigmentation.
Lighten
The Lighten solution utilises Kojic acid to lighten skin by suppressing melanocyte activity and pigmentation. It also has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. It is ideal for people with pigmentation and skin discolouration concerns. It also helps visibly reduce pigmentation and improves skin tone and skin clarity.
Some very sensitive skin types may not be able to tolerate the components of DermaFrac treatment, and an alternative treatment may be recommended for you.
Having a consultation with one of our Skin Therapists can determine whether you are a suitable candidate for DermaFrac treatment. During your consultation, the Skin Therapist will discuss your treatment goals and any skin sensitivities you may experience, and tailor a treatment plan to target your concerns.
DermaFrac treatment is not recommended for those who have:
- Severe, active acne
- Broken, inflamed skin
- Taken Roaccutane or other acne medications, in the past 6 months
- Epilepsy
- Dermatitis or fungal infections
- HIV/Hepatitis
- High doses of blood thinning medication
- Cold sores
- Skin cancer or suspected skin cancer
A Skin Therapist will discuss how to prepare for DermaFrac treatment during your consultation. It is recommended to avoid using any exfoliating products or active ingredient skincare products, 3 days prior the treatment. This includes avoiding products that have Retinol, Lactic acid, Salicylic acid and Glycolic acid. Our Skin Therapists can confirm whether there are any products that you should avoid. It is also recommended to use sun protection daily and avoid prolonged sun exposure.
During the treatment you will remain comfortable. The microdermabrasion and fruit enzyme mask is painless, but you will experience a light tugging sensation on the skin. The DermaFrac portion will vary from person to person based on the tolerance, the needle depth and serum selected. A slight scratching sensation can be felt particularly over sensitive areas which may feel like a pulling sensation with a slight scratch.
Once the treatment is over, there can be a warmth felt to the skin for up to 24 hours accompanied by some redness that will gradually fade over 12 to 24 hours. Dry skin and flaking is possible for up to 4-5 days post treatment with the skin to be fully healed with a fresh glow by 7 days. After this period you may resume any active skincare such as Vitamin A, AHA’s and BHA’s. Strict sun avoidance is a must to protect the new skin from damage and possible adverse reactions.
After DermaFrac treatment, it’s important to continue using sun protection everyday and avoid prolonged sun exposure. Aspect physical sun SPF 50+, which is ideal for post-treatment use, hydrates and repairs the skin. We also recommend avoiding the use of exfoliating products 3 days post-treatment, to allow the skin to heal.
For best results, we recommend following a skincare routine alongside your treatments. Your Skin Therapist can help tailor a routine to suit your needs. A hydrating moisturiser can also help soothe the skin, we recommend the Aspect Soothing Gel.
DermaFrac produces immediate results. Over time, the treatment continues to stimulate collagen production and your results will continually improve.
How long do the results last?
DermaFrac treatment can provide instant and long term benefits.
For best results, it is recommended to do 6 to 8 treatments, every 4 – 6 weeks based on the condition and concern of the skin. DermaFrac is also a great treatment to do 1-2 weeks prior to any major event to freshen up and rejuvenate the skin.
What are the risks of DermaFrac treatment?
There are minimal risks involved with DermaFrac treatment. It is common to experience some redness after the treatment. Other side effects of DermaFrac treatment are rare, and your Skin Therapist will discuss them with you during your consultation.

TANNING TIPS
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY TAN?
Exfoliate using an exfoliating mitt add “or exfoliating product. For at least three days leading up to your tan use an Exfoliating Mitt to remove any dry skin, paying extra attention to areas of the body that get particularly dry, elbows and knees we’re looking at you.
Remove Unwanted Hair. Removing any unwanted hair at least a day before your tan will give your pores time to close. This minimises any risk of tan getting trapped and appearing dotty on your skin. If you are waxing, this needs to be done at least 2 days before to give your skin time to heal. Waxing can cause mirco-tears in the skin which will affect your tan.
Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise! Dry skin equals patchy tan. For a radiant and natural tan that wears away evenly, in the days leading up to your tan and after you have exfoliated, make sure you moisturise your whole body. Again, paying extra attention to dryer areas such as elbows, knees, hands and feet.
Clean and ready. On the day of your tan please ensure your skin is completely free of all products including moisturiser, deodorant, makeup and perfume. These products have ingredients that will react with the tan and turn it GREEN. Deodorant is often the main culprit, as this product is designed to resist moisture. A quick rise under the shower may not cut it, make sure you thoroughly scrub your underarms and use soap or shower gel to make sure it is off, then rinse.
Spray tan fashion. After your tan, make sure you wear loose dark clothing and slip on shoes such as sandals or thongs. Wearing tight fitted clothes or a bra after your tan will cause rub marks and affect the tan in these areas.
* If it is raining on the day of your tan don’t stress, no need to last minute re-schedule. Just wear loose dark clothing that covers you up such as a tracksuit and hoodie or long sleeved t-shirt, and go for ugg boot or moccasin style closed slippers. This paired with an umbrella, and your tan will be perfectly protected.
POST TAN CARE
Ok so you have had your tan in salon, here is a reminder about what to do next.
Once the development time as quoted by your tanner, has elapsed, jump under the shower to rinse off the bronzer. Make sure your shower is not overly hot, as hot water will dry out your skin and can affect your tan. Also very hot water can strip the colour and lead to streaks.
Be sure to thoroughly remove all the bronzer from your skin and ensure the water is running clear. Soft circular motions with your palms over the body can help to remove any stubborn bronzer, particularly from the legs. Please remember to rinse your whole body, this includes your legs and under the arms! Not removing all the bronzer can cause the tan to over develop in these areas leading to an uneven tan.
If your tan looks like it has streaks once you get out of the shower, jump back into the shower for an extra minute to ensure the bronzer is completely rinsed off.
After your first shower dry yourself gently and avoid using other products on your skin until after the second shower. If your skin is particularly dry, you may want to use a fragrance and alcohol free moisturiser after the first shower.
Moisturise! To maintain your bronze perfection for as long as possible, keep your skin moisturised everyday to make sure your tan wears away evenly over time. We always recommend to use a fragrance and alcohol free moisturiser.
MY EVENT IS ON SATURDAY, WHEN SHOULD I TAN?
We suggest tanning 1-2 days before your event, so Thursday or Friday would be best. For weddings, 2 days before will give you a more natural look. Heading off on holiday? The night before is best. However, this is just a rough guideline, and we can always tailor our tan application to work with your schedule.
AFTER TANNING, WILL I STILL NEED TO WEAR SUNSCREEN?
Yes! You’ll have to SPF off those harmful UV rays, as natural tanning doesn’t offer any sun protection. Be sun-smart when you’re out and about, and try to wear a moisturising sunscreen lotion wherever possible.
WILL SWIMMING IN CHLORINATED / SEAWATER AFFECT MY TAN?
Unfortunately, yes! As swimming enhances exfoliation, and chlorinated water makes the skin lighter, it may cause your tan to fade more quickly than normal. Avoid the fade by taking shorter dips and always using a water-resistant sunscreen, which can act as a barrier between your beautiful bronze and the water.
